Coop Ventilation Calculator (coopventilationcalc.com, "the site") is published by Yellowbird Company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and who processes it. Questions: Brett@yellowbirdcompany.com.

Summary

• The calculator runs in your browser. We do not ask for an account, and the site has no payment forms.
• We use two analytics tools, Google Analytics and PostHog, to understand which pages and tools people use.
• If you sign up for the ventilation checklist, we store your email address with our email provider, Resend, to send it and occasional follow-up emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Some product links are Amazon affiliate links. Clicking one takes you to Amazon, which sets its own cookies.
• We do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) and PostHog (PostHog Inc., US cloud) to measure how the site is used. When you visit, these tools collect information such as pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, the referring site, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Both tools set cookies or similar browser storage to recognise a returning browser:

• Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>.
• PostHog stores an anonymous identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage.

When you click a product recommendation, we record that click in PostHog: which product, which part of the page, and the page you were on. This helps us see which recommendations are useful.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site works normally with analytics blocked.

Email sign-up

If you enter your email to get the printable checklist, we send your email address to Resend (Resend, Inc.), which stores it in our mailing list and delivers our emails. We send the checklist right away and, after that, occasional emails about coop ventilation and new tools or guides.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing marks your address as unsubscribed so you receive no further emails. To have your address deleted entirely, email us.

We collect only your email address through this form. We do not ask for your name.

Affiliate links

Links to products on Amazon go through a short redirect on our site (/go/...). The redirect uses your country, as reported by our hosting provider from your IP address, to send you to amazon.ca or amazon.com. We do not store that information. Once you reach Amazon, Amazon's own privacy notice and cookies apply.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information needed to deliver pages, such as IP address, browser user agent and the URL requested.

Payments

The site does not sell anything directly and has no checkout. If paid products are added later, this section will be updated before launch to describe the payment processor.

Advertising

The site does not currently show display ads. If we add an advertising partner, we will update this policy before ads go live.

How we use information

• To run and improve the calculator and guides.
• To send the checklist and emails you asked for.
• To understand which product recommendations are useful.
• To keep the site secure and working.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers named above (Google, PostHog, Resend, Vercel), who process it to provide their services to us. When you follow an affiliate link, Amazon receives information about your visit under its own policies. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Where it is processed

Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you unsubscribe and ask us to delete it, or until we stop running the mailing list. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and PostHog.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any message.
• Ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing Brett@yellowbirdcompany.com.
• Block cookies in your browser, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

The site is written for adult backyard chicken keepers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
